Cambrige Comic Arts Festival (CCAF) 2013

Hello everyone!, I have amazing news for you today because after so many months of emails back and forth, and a lot of revisions and invitations we are finally a few weeks away of our  first event that we put together in coordination with the Cambridge Libraries & Galleries to whom I had have been working for them as an Art Instructor for the last 5 years, and a lot of people that help to promote and generate this show, that is right 2013 will be the first year that the Cambridge Comic Arts Festival  or CCAF will be done.

Cambridge Comic Arts Festival

Hey comic lovers! Did you know that May 4th is Free Comic Book Day? And do we have an event for you - the first ever Cambridge Comic Arts Festival!
We have lots of comic craziness happening all day, Saturday May 4, at the Queen's Square Library & Gallery and at our Clemens Mill location.
And it's all FREE!
What's on? You can:
  • Meet emerging and established comic book artists and vendors!
  • View interactive displays complete with live drawing demonstrations
  • Listen to spotlight presentations on topics ranging from character development to finding your first publisher
And yes, you can take home a free comic just for participating in Free Comic Book Day!  Comics are available at all our locations (and at participating comic book stores) - but come early as supplies are limited.
There is fun for everyone, no matter your age or expertise:
  • kids activities are happening in the Queen's Square program room
  • kids & teens can design digital comics at Clemens Mill, and
  • everyone will enjoy meeting and listening to talented comic artists at the Comic Book Expo at Queen's Square!

Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May each year - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely to anyone who comes into their stores.
This year, come to our library locations and receive a free comic book!

Manga Fest

Do you think you could be the next Kishimoto, Kubo or Ohba? This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of drawing and cartooning in the popular Japanese style called Manga, with a focus on the vital connection between cartooning and storytelling. Born and raised in Venezuela, Adrianna is the writer and artist of Fall on Me.
Character Development with Alfonso Espinos
Creative Director and Chief Editor of Studio Comix, Alfonso has had work published in various publications.
Animation, Comic Anthologies and Self-Employment with Katie Shanahan
A graduate of Sheridan College's classical animation diploma program, Katie worked professionally in tv-animation as a storyboard artist, character designer and animator on shows for PBS Kids, Cartoon Network, Mattel and National Geographic Kids.

"My Home" (Movie)

The Non Violence International Film Festival presents the  animated short film, My Home at Queen’s Square Library!
My Home is the story of a persistent and self-indulgent beaver who is not a very good neighbour. That is, until he meets a precocious no-nonsense turtle. In Oneida society, the oral tradition is very important and represents the soul of the Oneida people. From generation to generation children are taught about their Oneida traditional beliefs from an Elder who has the ability to speak with meaning and confidence.
